South Dakota

I had no idea Sioux Falls was named for waterfalls! Now, I know that sounds ridiculous but it's true. Mostly, I never really thought about it before. We had another beautiful drive. This time through Iowa.  I hate to say this but I am farmed out! The farms are beautiful but you can only see so much corn! We are so happy to be moving into a different terrain!

Another beautiful farm. Green, green, green...and so on.

We took two detours today. The first was leaving Kansas City. We just had to drive across the border to Kansas. We may never get back this way and wanted to be able to say we were in Kansas. So when the opportunity came to jump across the border to Nebraska, we did that too! Now we can say we've been in 28 states so far! We've set a goal to visit every state before we turn 70. We thought that would keep us from having to take a trip back to Kansas and Nebraska.

Today was just about getting half way to Mount Rushmore. Tomorrow we'll go visit those famous falls and start the trek through The Badlands to Mount Rushmore!

  3. Well, I've been to Kansas and Nebraska, too, much the way you touched down! That was in the 70's and I share your opinion on going back...or not. If all the corn is making you crazy, traveling extensively in those states might have put you over the edge. The terrain will soon be changing drastically. Norma
